1. Nigeria’s external reserve hits $46 billion

The Central Bank of Nigeria, has on Sunday, disclosed that Nigeria’s External Reserves is steadily growing and currently stands at $46bn.

The apex bank revealed that that the reserves grew by about $3.2bn between February and March 2018.

2. Ekweremadu denies encouraging military take over of Nigeria

Deputy Senate president , Ike Ekweremadu has denied calling on the military to overthrow Nigeria’s democratic government.

He said his comments on the floor of the senate were taken out of context.

3. Tobacco, alcoholic drinks to cost more as FG reviews excise duties

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved an amendment to the excise duty on alcoholic beverages and tobacco with effect from June 4, 2018.

In a statement issued in Abuja yesterday, the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, said the new excise duty rates were spread over a three-year period from 2018 to 2020 in order to moderate the impact on prices of the products.

4. US Secretary of State, Tillerson arrives Nigeria today

U.S. Secretary of State, Mr. Rex Tillerson, is set to arrive Nigeria on Monday, for his first official visit to the country.

According to a press advisory from U.S embassy, the Secretary of State who has been on a week-long tour of Africa would hold talks with President Muhammadu Buhari on counter terrorism efforts and humanitarian issues in Nigeria’s Northeast and the Lake Chad basin on Tuesday.

5. Nigeria’s Eboe-Osuji elected International Criminal Court president

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has elected Nigeria’s Chile Eboe-Osuji as the president of the international court in Netherlands.

He has been elected on a three-year term which takes effect immediately.

6. Senate confirms each senator gets N13.5m monthly running cost

The Senate has disclosed their is nothing new in what Senator Sani said when he revealed each senator of the federal republic gets N13.5m per month as running.

Senate spokesperson Sabi Abdullahi said, the figures are reflected in the National Assembly budget.

7. Former Adamawa state governor, Michika is dead

The first civilian governor of Adamawa State, Abubakar Saleh Michika, is dead.

Michika died weekend after being been in coma for several days at the Federal Medical Centre, Yola.

8. Gov. Yahaya Bello reverses decision after dissolving cabinet

Barely thirty minutes after Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, announced the dissolution of the State Executive Council and the 21 Local Government Administrators, the governor has allegedly rescinded his decision, asking the appointees to stay put in their respective offices.

He also asked them to be of higher productivity and as well relate with the masses.

9. Lekki toll gate accident claims four lives

Four persons reportedly lost their lives in an accident that occurred at Lekki Toll gate, Lagos.

It was gathered that the accident occurred after a Lexus GX470 SUV, ran into a commercial bus that was just cleared by the ticketing officers at the toll gate.

10. Cech achieves 200th premier league clean sheet in Arsenal win over Watford

Arsenal recorded a morale boosting 3-0 win over Watford in their premier league clash on Sunday.

Goalkeeper, Petr Cech also secured his 200th premier league clean sheet with the win over Watford, while also saving his first Arsenal penalty kick.
