Benue indigenes in Abuja endorse Ortom for second term
Benue citizens residing in Abuja have declared their support for the second term bid of Governor Samuel Ortom.
The people of the state described Ortom as the Defender of the Benue Valley, and that he should be given another chance to lead the people, having successfully led the people to win the war against herdsmen.
Ortom received the endorsement on Sunday in Abuja at a dinner organized by Benue sons and daughters in the diaspora in his honour.
Speaking at the event, President, Middle Belt Forum, Dr. Pogu Bitrus, said Ortom would surely win another term because his love for the people of Benue State.
According to him, “Governor Samuel Ortom is the kind of leader we need in the Middle Belt. The Middle Belt needs a man who is willing and ready to stand by his people and defend them. Governor Ortom is such a man. We believe in him; we love him; we will support him.”
Also speaking at the event, former Senate President, David Mark, called on all Benue sons and daughters not to repeat the 2015 mistake.
He said the people of the state had learnt a bitter lesson in the hand of the APC and can’t afford to make sure mistake again.
On his part, former Minister of Interior and the senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Benue South, Comrade Abba Moro, said he was confident that the people of the state would vote for the PDP from the presidency to the house of assembly.
Responding, Ortom promised never to fail the people if given the second term mandate.
